Rusty Eye - Mr Cannibal

This is a video that was recommended by a visitor to the site yesterday. I was not familiar with Rusty Eye, but this is an interesting song and video. It's very well done. It's obviously a pretty dark song, but I did a little research on the band, and they've been around with various lineups since 1995. Wikipedia has a good summary of their career.

They were awarded the Best Metal Single of the Year 2006 at the LA Music Awards, so they're definitely someone I'll keep an eye on. Thanks for the head's up Erin. Enjoy!

I've been a big fan of Live ever since they burst onto the scenes back in 1994 with songs like Lightning Crashes and I Alone. I'm still a fan because I think lead singer Ed Kowalczyk has a great voice. But, their 2006 album, Songs From Black Mountain, was definitely a departure from the hard rocking songs that made them famous.

This song, The River, is a good song. It's much more of an adult pop rock song than an alternative rock song as evidenced by the only chart it charted on in the U.S. - It peaked at #33 on the Billboard Hot Adult Top 40 charts. But, don't fret, they're still huge in Holland!

Linkin Park - Shadow Of The Day

Shadow of the Day is Linkin Park's newest single that was just released from their Minutes to Midnight album. From Wikipedia's description: The video shows Chester Bennington waking up and his alarm clock reads 11:55, the current Doomsday Clock time, referencing the album title Minutes to Midnight and the song which is the 5th song on the album. The video is over four minutes long, meaning that the time at the end would be 11:59 PM, or one minute to midnight. Chester then watches the news, washes up, gets dressed, and goes outside.

We then see that the video takes place in a war torn world, where mass chaos is ensuing on the streets of the city. There is a lot of violence going on with many police and gunshots. Near the end of the video, a car is set on fire and bursts into flames in one of the most intense shots of the video. Chester then stands in front of the burning car, while looking hopelessly at the carnage that surrounds him. He then turns towards the flames, and the video fades to black.

Currently, the song is sitting at #17 on the Billboard Modern Rock charts, but I'm sure it'll soar up the charts in the next few weeks. Enjoy!
